The Books That Changed My Life
Over the years, I’ve read books that completely reshaped how I see the world - how I think about money, success, learning, and even parenting. These books laid the foundation for my personal growth, challenging what I had been conditioned to believe and helping me step into a life of freedom, abundance, and alignment.
Here are some of the books that made the biggest impact on my journey:
1. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
This book opened my eyes to the power of relentless determination and never giving up. But more than that, it taught me that everything - everything - begins in the mind. Every great success story started as just an idea, fueled by belief, persistence, and action. Hill breaks down the common principles of the world’s most successful people, showing that wealth and achievement aren’t about luck - they’re about mindset, vision, and discipline. It was my first real introduction to the idea that our thoughts shape our reality.
2. Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki
Reading this was like waking up to a whole new way of seeing money. It made me realise how little we are taught about financial literacy in school - yet it’s one of the most important things to understand. Kiyosaki’s comparison between his “Rich Dad” and “Poor Dad” highlighted the stark contrast in how wealthy people and the working class handle money. The biggest lesson? The rich don’t work for money; they make money work for them. Assets over liabilities. Investing. Understanding cash flow. Learning these basic principles changed how I thought about wealth, work, and financial freedom.
3. The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins
This concept is simple but freeing: let them. Let people judge, misunderstand, or walk away. Let them do whatever they choose, and stop wasting energy on trying to control what’s outside of your power. The only thing you can control is your own response. This book (and its core message) helped me detach from the opinions of others and focus on what truly matters - my own growth, goals, and peace of mind.
4. The Secret by Rhonda Byrne
I know this book gets mixed opinions, but for me, it was a powerful introduction to the law of attraction. It reinforced the idea that what we focus on expands - our thoughts, emotions, and energy are constantly shaping our reality. The biggest takeaway? Having a burning desire for something, believing it is possible, and taking aligned action is how we manifest our dreams. It was a gateway into deeper mindset work and learning how to consciously co-create my life.
5. How Children Learn by John Holt
This book completely shifted how I saw education. I had already started questioning traditional schooling, but Holt helped me unlearn the idea that education must take place within four walls. He showed me that children are naturally curious and wired to learn - they don’t need to be forced. The world itself is the best classroom. This deeply influenced my homeschooling journey, giving me the confidence to trust my children’s innate ability to learn through exploration, curiosity, and real-life experiences.
6. Unconditional Parenting by Alfie Kohn
This book challenged so many traditional parenting methods I had grown up believing were “normal.” It made me rethink discipline, rewards, and punishments. Kohn encourages a shift away from controlling our children and instead focusing on connection, trust, and unconditional love. Parenting is about raising independent, emotionally secure, and free-thinking humans - not just obedient ones.
7. The Call of the Wild and Free by Ainsley Arment
If you’re drawn to homeschooling or alternative education, this book is a must-read. It celebrates the idea that learning should be filled with adventure, creativity, and wonder. It gave me so much inspiration and reassurance that the best education is the one that nurtures a child’s soul, not just their test scores.
These books have been stepping stones on my journey - helping me shift my mindset, take control of my financial future, release limiting beliefs, and embrace a life of freedom, learning, and growth.
If you’ve read any of these, I’d love to hear how they impacted you! Or if you have any books that have changed your life, drop them in the comments - I’m always looking for my next great read.
